Asking for Directions
I remember many years ago when my daughter was about 3 years old and we were down in Disney World. We decided to leave early in the morning where she could sleep in the car on the ride back. I remember my wife asking me do I know which directions to go this was before iphones and GPS systems. I said of course I know what direction to go. We got on the road and of we went. We were having a great time talking about the trip. Then it felt like we were going in circles and I remember her saying are you sure you know where you going and of course I said yes I know. After about an hour and we still haven’t left Orlando she said you need to stop and ask for directions. I remember thinking I don’t want to ask for help but I did and the person told me the correct directions. It’s like life we think that we know what directions we are headed to only find out we are going in circles and we are not headed in the right direction. We don’t we ask? It because we think we know best. This is why God puts people in our lives to help us the only thing is we need to listen to them and not think we know best. However we need to make sure we are surrounding ourselves around Godly people. This brings me to James 1:5 “Now if any lack wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him” Jesus makes it clear to his disciples: they should petition God to meet their needs. If God does this for his disciples don’t you think we should to? Genuine, heartfelt prayers produce powerful changes in us and in our world. When we open our hearts to God, We open ourselves to never-ending source of divine wisdom and infinite love. Do you have needs that you simply can’t meet by yourself? Do you truly seek to know Gods unfolding plans for your life? Whatever your need, no matter big or small, pray about it and never lose hope. God is not just near; He is there, and He’s perfectly capable of answering your prayers. Now it’s up to you to ask.
