Don’t waste the time you have

At some time in our life we stop and look back and say where did the time go? I relate to this to my three daughters. If you don’t have kids maybe you look at this and think back to high school or college. Maybe a past job, relationship or vacation.  At this point of my life I have a daughter is who is married with two boys, a daughter who is out of school and on her own and a daughter is who is about to graduate high school.  So, I ask myself where did the time go?
You see, time is crucial to our lives. You can run out of money with time left and you can run out of friends with time left, but when you run out of time, it’s over. If there is one thing we need to handle wisely, it’s our time.
So, look at it this way, we can make more money, make more friends, take more trips, and maybe have another child but your time allotment is inflexible. You only get so much time. Job describes time this way, “A person’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed” Job 14:5. Did you catch the last words “limits he cannot exceed.” You can over spend, overeat, and overachieve but you can’t over live. In Psalms it is said this way “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12.
As we go through life we need to remember we only have so much time on this earth. When we ask, “where did the time go,” we are really asking another, more bewildering questions like, “Where did my life go?” “How did I miss that?” you fill in the blank with your question.
The fact that time is life and can’t be recovered is why we must protect it.
Remember time with a spouse, kids and family is important. So instead of using your time looking at social media, put it down and use that time to create memories with your family. Don’t allow the things of life get in the way of losing that time with them because there will be a day the hour glass with ends and you can’t turn it over and restart it.
